Traditional "drum trucks" (ready-mix trucks) and our On-Site mixers operate in fundamentally different ways. Understanding the difference is the key to understanding your savings.
| Feature | ✕ Traditional Drum Truck | ✓ Concrete On Tap |
|---|---|---|
| Mixing Method | Pre-mixed at plant, transported in rotating drum | Mixed on-site, on demand — always 100% fresh |
| Billing | Full load minimum — pay for what you order, not what you use | Pay to the nearest 0.5 m³ — only what you actually pour |
| Waste | Leftover concrete returned and discarded | Zero waste — unused material stays dry on the truck |
| Mix Flexibility | One mix per load — no on-site adjustments | Slump, fiber, admixtures adjusted on-site in real time |
| Time Pressure | 90-minute window before concrete sets in drum | No time pressure — pour at your crew's pace |
| Freshness | Begins hydrating in transit — quality degrades | Mixed the moment you need it — peak quality guaranteed |
| Routing | Returns to batch plant after every load | Moves directly job to job — more efficient, lower emissions |
| Environment | Higher fuel consumption, more return trips, more waste | Lower emissions, zero concrete waste, electric/hydraulic mixing |
Material Storage & How We Mix
The key ingredients that go into a load of concrete are stored and transported in separate compartments on board our trucks. Here's exactly how the system works:
Step A — Material Storage
Sand and stone (aggregates) are stored in separate open bins. Cement powder is in a closed, watertight compartment behind the aggregates. Water is held in a dedicated side tank. All materials travel completely dry and separated.
Step B — Mix Selection
Once on-site, the operator selects the right mix for your specific pour. Everything is set digitally to match your required specs.
Step C — Auger Production
Sand, stone, and cement exit their bins in precise ratios, drop into the continuous mixing auger, and combine with metered water. The result is perfectly homogeneous concrete flowing directly down the discharge chute — ready to pour.

Zero Waste. Lower Emissions. Better Concrete.
On-Site Mixing eliminates the single biggest source of waste in the concrete industry — the leftover load. Because we mix on demand at your site, every kilogram of raw material that leaves our truck becomes part of your pour. No returned concrete, no drum washout, no disposal. Just 100% utilization, every time.
Our trucks also cut emissions by moving job to job without returning to a batch plant between loads — reducing truck trips by up to 40% compared to traditional ready-mix operations. Combined with hydraulic and electric-assisted mixing systems, Concrete On Tap delivers a significantly lower carbon footprint per cubic metre than any drum truck alternative.
